What costume should I pick?
Halloween is a holiday typically celebrated in the USA. Originally, it was a Celtic holiday where the line between the dead and the alive was blurred. So, people could communicate with their departed ancestors and loved ones on this day.
However, due to this line being blurred, spooky elementals like witches would begin to roam the Earth. Thus, people would dress up as ghosts and goblins to try to hide from these undead creatures.
This is where we get the tradition of dressing up in scary costumes & masks.
Nowadays, it’s more and more common for people to dress up their pups to partake in this adorable tradition as well.
A few things to consider before you buy a costume for your dog.
- Fit: Make sure that the costume takes into consideration your dog’s anatomy. If you accidentally buy a costume that’s meant for dogs with longer legs, your pup will be tripping all night and will be miserable. Measure your dog properly and choose the most fitting size. When in doubt, size up!
- Comfort: The fabric should be breathable and not restrictive whatsoever. Make your doodle try on the costume a few times to ensure that it isn’t tight anywhere.
- Safety: The costume shouldn’t have any dangling bits or things that can easily fall off (sequins, glitter, beads). More likely than not, your dog will get confused and think that’s the treat of the night!

Halloween Costumes for your Labradoodle
We’ve compiled a list of the best Halloween costumes for your doodle. We’ve got everything if you want mysterious, funny, handsome, or downright terrifying!
1. Sherlock Bones
This costume is perfect for a curious dog that loves snooping around the trash. The cape and hat make your doodle instantly recognizable as the 221B Baker Street detective.
This outfit is ideal for dogs who allow something to be put on their heads; a lot of dogs would shake it right off, so try it on a few times and see if your Labradoodle is comfortable with it.
Complete this outfit with a little magnifying glass & your doodle will definitely get all the treats he desires. Just be warned, your little Sherlock Holmes may deduce exactly where you’ve hidden his brand new toys.
2. A Hot Dog!
Well, it is called a hotdog for a reason! This adorable hotdog costume, complete with relish & mustard, will have you confusing your Labradoodle for a Dachshund.
If you like a drink with your hot dog, try these adorable “Pup Light” squeaky toys to complete the barbeque look.
This is great if your dog hates being constricted around the limbs and can only entertain something covering its stomach area.
However, be careful that you wash this costume with a pet-friendly detergent since it is touching the sensitive belly area and may cause rashes.
3. Spooky Ghost
This classic costume is probably the easiest to make. Just take an old bedsheet and cut out 2 eye holes and a mouth hole.
This is the perfect costume for a photo shoot. Position your Labradoodle next to some Jack-O-Lanterns or another Halloween decoration & click some adorable photos.
Your pooch will likely not be happy with this costume, considering how it restricts the line of vision and movement and is a bit uncomfortable.
Thus, I don’t recommend this costume for the entire night, but only for a few minutes during photo time.
4. Ewok
This is my personal favorite costume, and I’m sure any Star Wars fans out there will fall in love with this. If you want your dog to look straight off of the moon of Endor, opt for this adorable Ewok costume.
You or another pet can dress up as Leia or C-3PO for a cute matching costume.
5. Pup-kin
A classic Halloween outfit is definitely this intricate pumpkin costume. We recommend this only for more obedient dogs who don’t mind a full-body costume like this.
It is a little more difficult to put on, but it has leg holes so that your doodle won’t feel constricted.
Plus, thanks to the bright orange color, it has fantastic visibility if you are planning to take your dog out at night for trick-or-treating.
6. Teddy Bear
Who needs a teddy bear haircut when you can just buy a teddy bear costume? This outfit goes so well with the adorable Labradoodle face. They look just like a real stuffed animal!
Since it comes with a headpiece and attached front legs, it may be harder for younger, untrained puppies to refrain from chewing it up. Could you blame them? The outfit looks just like their squeaky toys!
However, if you have a well-behaved dog who won’t destroy it, we really recommend this charming costume.
7. Pirate
Try out a cute pirate costume if you have a Labradoodle whose b-arrr-k is worse than his bite. This headpiece and matching backpiece will make your doodle look like a real sea dog!
8. Love Bug
If everyone you meets falls head-over-heels in love with your pooch, then the love bug costume with the headband, Bandana, and sunglasses is a fantastic option!
This is also reasonably easy to DIY. All you need is a red headband with hearts, which is pretty easy to find at any pet store, a red bandana, and some red heart glasses!
Your dog might shake off the glasses as soon as you finish clicking a photo, but the Bandana and headband complete the outfit perfectly!
9. Super-Dog
Even if your Labradoodle seems to make more messes than they clean, a super-dog costume is a great option for your troublesome pooch.
It comes with a full-body costume and a cape, which looks fantastic when your dog goes running off.
Again, be careful with the detergent you use to wash it as it can cause rashes on the stomach.
10. Minion
Labradoodles love bananas as a sweet treat, which is why a minion costume is a great option. Your doodle will look adorable in the cute little overalls and minion glasses.
This can be a little restrictive for some dogs, so make sure that your pup is comfortable with this outfit.
11. Reindeer
Okay, we know that Christmas isn’t for a few months. But, this cute reindeer costume is an adorable, unexpected outfit that goes fantastic with the curly coat of a Labradoodle.
The antler headband and Christmas sweater Bandana will make your doodle look like a holiday movie star.
This is a very comfortable costume that’s suitable for puppies as well.
12. Winnie the Pooh
Trust me, if Labradoodles were big enough, they would raid beehives just like Winnie the Pooh. Dogs love honey, which makes this sweet Winnie the Pooh outfit perfect for your Labradoodle.
This interactive beehive dog toy is a great costume addition that can also keep your dog entertained.
This outfit is not only comfortable and non-restrictive, but it is also easily recognizable as everyone’s favorite cartoon bear.
Have all your pets match by getting Piglet, Tigger, and Eeyore costumes as well!
Conclusion
Halloween is an extremely fun holiday, filled with cheer and fear. Make sure your Labradoodle can enjoy the fun with their own costume. Just beware of chocolate when you go trick-or-treating!
